Those who betray and those who don't--

Kento Iwasaki shared this picture on his Twitter to promote an exhibition dedicated to the relationship between Nobunaga and Ieyasu, fueled by the current taiga drama Dousuru Ieyasu and probably the upcoming Kubi--

"What the heck is this?! Interesting!!"

Here's a summary from the official website:

"No warlord has been betrayed by vassals and daimyo alike as much as Nobunaga. It started with the rebellion of the elders who supported his younger brother Nobukatsu, followed by the defection of his brother-in-law Azai Nagamasa, then the betrayal of his important vassals Matsunaga Hisahide and Araki Murashige, and finally Akechi Mitsuhide who defeated him and ended his life.

Under such circumstances, it was Ieyasu who remained a faithful ally since the very beginning. For Nobunaga, who was committed to the peace of Kyoto for the sake of the realm's tranquility, the presence of Ieyasu, who served as a barrier to the East, must have been crucial. Why do people betray Nobunaga? Did his relationship with Ieyasu ever change? With "betrayal" as the keyword, we consider the human situation surrounding Nobunaga and Ieyasu."

The Nobunaga and Ieyasu exhibition can be visited at the Azuchi Castle Archaelogical Museum until June 4!
