Ichikawa Ebizo XI as Nobunaga, challenging Kabuki

Since the announcement of the TV Special about Nobunaga featuring Ichikawa Ebizo XI, I decided to make this post about one of his first takes on our favourite warlord, featuring this pamphlet of the stage play Nobunaga. This modern kabuki was performed in Tokyo and Osaka in Winter 2006.

Cast reveal and infos about "Okehazama" TV Special

--It looks like on March 26, Fuji TV will grant its audience a 2+ hours-long TV special focused on Nobunaga and his "turning point" with the battle of Okehazama. The title is Okehazama ～Oda Nobunaga, the Birth of the Overlord～ (桶狭間～織田信長 覇王の誕生～, Okehazama ～Oda Nobunaga Haō no Tanjō～) and it will feature legendary actor Ichikawa Ebizo XI as Nobunaga.
This is not the first time for Ichikawa as Nobunaga, in fact he interpreted him already in the taiga drama Naotora: The Lady Warlord (2017).

--I was looking around the web for figures dedicated to Chinese drama Three Kingdoms, and I stumbled on a new Nobunaga figure to be released this year! This boy is ought to be released on Q3 2021 (so--around September?) and he looks quite affordable, too.

Ok, it took a bit but finally Nobunaga made his first proper appearance in the current taiga drama Kirin ga kuru ("麒麟がくる", translated as "Awaiting Kirin")! Here's my prompt report!

So, I'm keeping an eye on it for a bit, but I was waiting for the first pictures of Shota Sometani sporting Sengoku clothes before giving my first impression-- the official Twitter of the drama delivered a few days ago:
OMG, I just can't make myself to like Sometani as Nobunaga AT ALL T_T !

Review of the Nobunaga figure by ACI Toys :D

Guys, I can't believe it myself, but a few days ago, the Nobunaga figure by ACI Toys was shipped straight from Hong Kong to my door-- After almost three years of waiting I couldn't believe it myself!
So today I'm going to review the figure for your joy, and make a tiny comparison with its direct rival, the Nobunaga by COOMODEL.

Upcoming Nobu Comedy--

This new movie about Nobunaga was brought to my attention!
Three Nobunagas ("Sannin no Nobunaga"), directed by Kei Watanabe and starring TAKAHIRO of EXILE fame, is scheduled for release on September 20.

The plot is set right after the Battle of Kanagasaki, where Imagawa's vassals are looking for revenge, their goal is the capture of the man who destroyed their clan. They succeeded a bit too much, in fact, they came back to the camp with three Nobunagas!
Since two of them must be kagemusha, here starts a fun battle of wits between the two sides!

Looks like a fun comedy, and given the presence of TAKAHIRO, hopefully we'll get a prompt subbed version.

I'm talking about this also because the movie is going to be premiered this upcoming weekend in the West Coast at the Japanese Film Festival of Los Angeles; if you have a chance, make sure to attend!
